THE PROMISED ISLANDS # 032 Saturday, December 29, 2018 Los Roques, Venezuela 11°56’912” N, 066°40’704” W Traduccion Castellano & Français abajo & en bas The Fools drop anchor at the Promised Islands off the coast of Venezuela. On the biggest island El Gran Roque live some thousand people that cater for the happy rich escaping in small airplanes the misery of the mainland. Children build sand castles on Main Street in front of the street pub. We sailed to a small island with a few fishermen’s families that run their ‘rancho’, a shaky beach bar. They love the ship because it makes them think of their own court of sheds, rooms and corners and hand made furniture, all decorated with shells and driftwood. They invite us for lobster on a table made of the boards of a French fregate that stranded two-hundred years earlier. Under the white beaches are hidden pre-colombian feminine idols and music instruments as well as empty jenever bottles left by Dutch sailors. They left as well the names of the islands. I offered one of the rancheros to swap our small universes in the ocean.. Because these bright last days of the year invite for reflection. These latitudes close to the equator invite for an eternalization of time and space. The ship did finally set sail on her promised pilgrimage without return. But she cannot just disappear behind the horizon. In a few months, she celebrates her thirty years of existence and Azart Square a quarter of a century. My Friends, The Voyage Continues, as Kinky said in Fitzcarraldo. A ship must sail to be a ship and a saga must be told…. Another Caribbean project is in the making. We spend some weeks in Trinidad to negotiate participation at the Carifesta in August 2019. This reunites every few years on another Carib island or country their cultural manifestations. We would go for the OFF with a Curacao crew. The good news is that the cruise terminal of Port of Spain gladly offers us her quay side since it’s free during typhoon season. It’s a prestigious place next to the Parliament buildings. And the Carifesta organisation itself is on the look-out for location theater in which our proposition fits wonderfully. The stars are shining and the signs are propitious. You never know, you know.

Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.

Your organization’s wordpress site is very sleek –
hope you don’t mind me asking what theme you’re using?
(and don’t mind if I steal it? :P)

I just launched my small businesses site –also built in wordpress like yours– but the theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.

In case you have a minute, you can find it by searching for “royal cbd” on Google (would appreciate any feedback)
    – it’s still in the works.

Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care of yourself during the
    coronavirus scare!
